IT officials raid Congress leader Shivanna’s residence

Bengaluru: The Income Tax authorities have conducted a raid on residence of Congress MLA B Shivanna from Anekal, after receiving information bout possession of stashed cash.
It is trusted that the IT Department looked through the MLA’s residence after they were demanded by the Election Commission authorities, who got a tip-off of money at his home.
“Since election authorities can’t enter private premises for a search, the IT Department was brought in. A court order is constantly required to seek premises,” IT sources affirmed, elucidating that it was not a normal inquiry or review activity by the IT Department. “The entire activity was finished in under four hours. The hunt that closed by 10 am, did not yield any implicating records, however Rs. 5 lakh was discovered,” a source said.
The IT Department started a survey of properties having a place with four Congress workers in Koppa taluk — Koppa square president Sudhir Kumar Murolli, who is additionally a supporter, Sathish, Kukkada Ravi, and Subrahmanya Shetty, all Congress leaders. A group of 20 officers reached Koppa at an early hour in the morning and started the search.
The review is being directed in both Koppa and Jayapura in Koppa taluk.
Congress workers have asserted that the IT Department was working at the command of the BJP. “Plainly BJP leaders are behind this operation. I don’t realize what they will get in Mr. Sudhir Kumar’s home, which is loaded with literature books,” said Naveen Karuvane, a Congress leader.
