Jan 14-16: Congress padayatra protest against centre for stopping NH road works

Mangaluru: The Dakshina Kannada District Congress Committee will be holding a massive padayatra (protest march) from Nelyadi to B C Road from January 14 to 16th with the aim to mount pressure on the central government to restart the four-laning work along Mangaluru-Bengaluru National Highway.
On Saturday Jan 12th, former minister B Ramanath Rai spoke to reporters at the district Congress office and said that the DK district in-charge minister U t Khader will be inaugurating the 42km padayatra from Nelyadi bus stand at 9 am on Jan 14th. The padayatra will cover the distance till B C Road at over 15 kms per day and is expected to reach the destination at 4:30 pm on Jan 16th. The valedictory address will be delivered by KPCC President Dinesh Gundu Rao there, said Mr Rai.
Fear of life for wrongdoers
“The police are saying that they have no information regarding the plot to murder three pro hindutva leaders. Therefore I do not wish to say anything about it. Those who do wrong will always have the fear for their lives. A normal citizen who has done nothing wrong will have no fear,” said Mr Rai.
