JSW Steel land row: HK Patil writes to Home Minister MB Patil

Bengaluru: Congress leader HK Patil on Saturday through a letter requested Home Minister MB Patil that the Cabinet Sub-committee should look into the Jindal Steel Works land issue.
HK Patil in his letter said that the Cabinet sub-committee which is headed by MB Patil, should look into the opinion given by the Advocate General and should ensure that the state’s natural resources are protected.
Earlier this month, Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy had alleged ” hey (BJP) can speak for the sake of criticism, but Im not from such culture. I want to ask this same Yeddyurappa- from this same Jindal company he had taken Rs 20 crore cheque (while in power), I had released it. Why did Jindal give him Rs 20 crore cheque?”.
It may be noted that last year, a CBI court had acquitted Yeddyurappa, his sons, son-in-law and nine others in the corruption case filed against them over alleged receipt of Rs 20 crore.
Causing embarrassment to the coalition, senior Congress leader H K Patil has been opposing the sale, by writing a series of letters to the government.
He has maintained that the company had been accused of illegal mining and that it owed dues to the government and state-run Mysore Minerals Ltd.
It may be recalled that amid the row, JSW Steel chairman and managing director Sajjan Jindal had Saturday said, the company never does anything illegal or disadvantage the people of Karnataka.
