Karnataka monsoon legislature session to be held from September 21

Bengaluru: The monsoon session of the Karnataka legislature will be conducted from September 21 to 30, in Bengaluru.
The decision was taken at a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa on Thursday. As per the procedure, the legislature session has to be before September 23, which is six months since
The last session of the State legislature was held on March 23 and as per procedure, the legislature session has to be convened before September 23.
The Article 174 of the Constitution stipulated that ‘six months shall not intervene between its last sitting in one session and the date appointment for its first sitting in the next session’.
Speaking to reporters later Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister J C Madhuswamy said that the modalities on conducting the session amid the Covid-19 pandemic will be announced after consultation with Legislative Assembly Speaker and the Legislative Council Chairman.
