Bengaluru: Gauri Lankesh was murdered by the accused with the sole aim of saving ‘Hinduism’.

The 26-year-old Parashuram Waghmare, who was arrested by the Special Investigation Team from Vijayapura early this week has quite recently admitted to killing Gauri and also said that he was informed that he needed to shoot her down to save the religion and he did as such without knowing the identity of the target.

Waghmare is likewise accepted to have said that he shouldn’t have murdered the woman.

Waghmare is said to have told the SIT that he had no clue who he was murdering when he shot four bullets into Gauri’s body outside her RR Nagar house on September 5, 2017. He has said that while he was told about the address in May, he was taken to Bengaluru on September 3 after training to use the pistol, in Belagavi.

Three men took Waghmare to Gauri’s residence three to four times before the day he was to kill her and the executioners needed to postpone the plan once as Gauri had reached home at early the day they at first planned to kill her.

The character of these men who went with Waghmare has not been learned and Waghmare claims not to know them.
