Kollur: An ancient sculpted stone depicting the Nag was discovered at Halkal Kote near here during extension works at the Jain Jattigeshwara Temple.
The sculpted stone features a three-headed, hooded Nag and three sacred knots. There are three baby Nagas too depicted in the sculpture.
History professor T Murugeshi at the Sundar Ram Shetty College in Shirva states that Nag has special importance in the Jain tradition and as the sculpture was found Jattigeshwara, it must be related to Jain practices.
