Udupi: MLC Kota Srinivasa Poojary and former minister, issued a strong ultimatum stating that the district’s sand issue and the licensing problems faced by lorry and tempo owners must be resolved within the next three to four days.

Failing this, all MLAs are prepared to stage a protest in front of the Manipal District Collector’s office.

Addressing presspersons, Kota Srinivasa Pujari was joined by MLAs Gururaj Gantihole, Gurme Suresh Shetty, and Kiran Kodgi.

They expressed their concern over the escalating sand problem in the district, leading to a strike by lorry and tempo owners. This strike has adversely affected the transportation of soil and stones, impacting farmers and the construction sector.

Kota further urged the Chief Minister and District In-charge Minister to recognize the gravity of the situation and propose immediate solutions.
He also warned that if their demands were not met, they would initiate a massive sit-in protest in front of the district collector’s office.
