Bengaluru: The Karnataka State Pre-University College Teachers’ Association has threatened to boycott the pre-university college examinations if all their member-teachers are not vaccinated with the twin doses of anti-COVID-19 vaccines.
President of the Association AH Ningegowda said that last year 11 teachers succumbed to the virus after being deputed to examination duties and they do not want a repeat of it, hence, the State government must vaccinate all PU teachers.
Additionally, the Association has urged the government to adopt digital evaluation of answer script instead of physical evaluation due to the pandemic.
The State has more than 41,000 teachers teaching in government, aided and unaided pre-university colleges.
In 2020, more than 18,000 teachers were deputed on examination and evaluation duties at 53 examination centres across the State. The examination was held over 54 days as against the usual 20 days.
