KSRTC buses likely to start services from May 11 in Udupi

Udupi: The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) buses are likely to start operations within the district form May 11, informed sources.
The decision to allow KSRTC buses to operate in the city routes of the district was taken by the administration as per the instruction by the government and for the convenience of the people to move around the district, that falls under the green zone.
As per sources, the KSRTC officials have already conducted a route survey of where the bus service can be resumed. KSRTC and regional transport office officials have jointly submitted a route survey report to the district administration and based on that report the administration will take a suitable decision.
However, private bus operators will be resumed only after lockdown ends.
Canara Bus Operators Association president, Rajavarma Ballal said that at a meeting of senior officials of the transport department with private bus operators held at Bengaluru on Friday, a concrete decision could not be made. He said that the matter can be further considered only after the lockdown ends.
Rajavarma Ballal, Dakshina Kannada District Bus Owners Association president Dilraj Alva, Canara Bus Owners Union office bearer Venkataramana Pai and some others attended the meeting.
