Bengaluru: The State’s Department of Higher Education has decided to open 11 new evening colleges in the State to cater to the increased numbers of admissions this academic year.

As examinations of pre-university college students were not held and all students were passed based on their marks scored in class 10 and first-year PU, more students became eligible for admission to undergraduate courses.

Initially, the department has decided to start these evening classes in existing government degree colleges.

The colleges will be set up under the Sandhya Shakti scheme in eleven cities in the State.

Approval for the hiring of teaching and non-teaching staff has also been granted by the department and all courses offered in the evening colleges will be as per the new National Education Policy.
