Bengaluru: The BJP on Saturday, May 19 conceded that its Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa resigned as his government did not have the majority to win the trust vote in a hung Assembly.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) representative Vamanachrya said “As we didn’t have the numbers (112) required to win the trust vote, our party pioneers in Bengaluru and Delhi chose that Yeddyurappa ought to leave,”

BJP pioneers and Union Ministers Prakash Javadekar, Dharmendra Pradhan and Ananth Kumar were consistently in contact with the party’s leaders in Delhi all through the Assembly procedures, he said.

“By 3 pm, we have conveyed to our leaders that we lost the fight and a choice was taken that Yeddyurappa needs to leave. His abdication discourse was readied,” included Vamanacharya.

He additionally prevented assertions from claiming the Congress and the Janata Dal-Secular (JD-S) that the BJP had enjoyed horse-trading.

“These claims are being leveled against us since the election results on Tuesday. On the off chance that we would have gone for horse-trading, getting seven officials on board was not a big task. However, we didn’t attempt and we adhered to fair politics like we generally do,” Vamanacharya said.

Yeddyurappa, 75, who reported his abdication on the floor of the House before the put stock in vote, headed to Raj Bhavan and presented his resignation to Governor Vajubhai R. Vala.

The BJP won 104 seats in the May 12 assembly election held in 222 of the state’s 224 constituencies, failing to achieve majority number 112.
