Lockdown to be eased in districts with less than 5% COVID-19 positivity rate, says CM BSY

Bengaluru: Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa on Saturday said that lockdown restrictions will be relaxed in those districts of the State with less than 5 per cent COVID-19 positivity rate.
The positivity rate in the State fell to 9.69 per cent on June 5 since the beginning of the second wave after reaching the high of 32.73 per cent in May.
In Bengaluru, the epicentre of the pandemic in the State, the positivity rate dropped from 32.89 per cent in May to 6.96 per cent at the beginning of June.
Presently, only three districts – Bidar, Kalaburagi and Haveri – have less than 5 per cent positivity rate.
Mysuru district, recently in the news for a reported feud between the district’s Deputy Commissioner Rohini Sindhuri and City Corporation’s Commissioner Shilpa Nag over COVID-19 management, has the highest positivity rate in the State at 30.54 per cent.
