Lorry and M’luru-Mumbai private bus collide; ten injured

Karwar: A bus belonging to Sugama Tourist which was on its way towards Mumbai from Mangaluru collided with a truck near Hosur Bridge at Ankola on Friday morning June 14. It is learnt that over ten passengers in the bus have suffered grievous injuries. The injured have been admitted into taluk hospitals at Kumta and Ankola.
The lorry which was going towards Mangaluru from Mumbai collided head on with the bus and the impact was such that the front portion of both the vehicles was smashed. The drivers of either vehicles sustained injuries and found it challenge to come out of the mangled remains. The drivers were finally pulled out of the wreckage by the locals after considerable efforts.
The traffic on national highway 66 was thrown out of gear for some time after the accident. Ankola police rushed to the location and regularized vehicular movement.
