Lorry driver killed after container slides into driver’s cabin

Mangaluru: A 50-year-old man was killed on the spot in a freak mishap at New Mangalore Port Trust premises here on Wednesday, November 6 night.
The deceased identified as Vinod Poojary, a Vamanjoor resident was employed as a lorry driver.
Reportedly the mishap took place when Poojary, who was driving a container lorry applied brakes while navigating a turn. The container on the lorry is said to have slid ahead and rammed into the driver’s cabin killing Poojary on the spot.
It is learnt that the container had not been locked properly onto the lorry and this caused the accident.
