M G Hiremath takes over as new Deputy Commissioner of Belgaum district

Belgaum: M G Hiremath was sworn in as the new Deputy Commissioner (DC) of the district on Tuesday, June 30.
Dr S B Bommanahalli, outgoing DC, handed over the authority to the new DC.
“Belgaum is a large and sensitive district. But since I am originally from Belgaum district, the job will be easy,” said the new DC M G Hiremath.
I have experience in managing floods in Gadag district and have also dealt with all conditions including COVID-19 and drought, the new DC expressed.
Speaking on his farewell, outgoing DC Dr Bommanahalli thanked all who assisted him during his tenure.
New DC Mahantesh G Hiremath is a native of Gonikoppa village in Bailhongal taluk of the district.
He is an MSc (Physics) graduate from the University of Karnataka and has been a professor of physics at Belgaum and Hubli for some time.
He started his career as an Assistant Commissioner in the Commercial Tax Department after passing the Karnataka Public Service Commission in 1991 and was promoted to the service under the Indian Administrative Service.
He was the Chief Executive Officer of Bagalkot District Panchayat, Managing Director of the Hubli-Dharwad BRTS Company Limited and since August 2018 till date was the DC of Gadag district.
