Malpe: Lifeguards at Malpe beach saved two tourists from drowning at around 5 pm on Sunday.
Avinash (26) and Sagar (27), drivers from Sakleshpur, were swimming in the water in front of Shivpanchakshari Bhajana Mandir, a short distance away from the main beach. They were being swept away by a huge wave.
The lifeguards immediately rushed to the spot and brought them ashore to safety.
It is said that despite repeated warnings from lifeguards, the duo had ventured deeper waters. They were reportedly inebriated at the time of the incident.
