Mangaluru: A man lost Rs 1.2 lakh after he came across an advertisement on Facebook about a car sale and sent the amount online believing that the sale was genuine. Cyber Crime Police Station in the city has registered a case in this connection.
The victim saw the ad on Facebook and sent a message informing his will to buy the car. In response, the fraudster introduced himself as Meenakshidas, called the victim on June 20 from the mobile number 8533806693 and said that he was an employee of CISF working in Bengaluru International Airport and he was selling his Alto 800 car as he was transferred to Jammu & Kashmir. He also sent the snap of his identification card and the RC of the car on WhatsApp.
The victim believed the cheater and made a payment of Rs 1.20 lakh through some transactions to the said person. Once the fraudster got the money, his mobile remained on switched off mode. Only then did the gullible victim realized that he had been taken for a ride and brought the matter to the notice of the cops.
