Mangaluru: In a bid to reduce noise pollution, Mangaluru city will be observing a  ‘No Horn Day’ for a day on a weekly basis.

Mangaluru (South) MLA, D Vedavyasa Kamath is spearheading the initiative, that was launched three weeks ago and is being promoted massively on social websites.

Accordingly, motorists are being urged not to blow their horns on Wednesdays and discussions are being held with autorickshaw and bus owners in order to garner their cooperation towards this exercise and make it a success.

Speaking about the initiative Kamath said that while expecting a hundred per cent success may not be feasible, the exercise will achieve its purpose even if a section of people voluntarily support the concept.

Kamath mentioned that similar initiatives had been implemented in other cities like Bengaluru, Pune and Thiruvananthapuram.
