Mandatory to produce ID cards before scanning: Pregnant women in the city unaware

Mangaluru: Pregnant women who were unaware of the new policies faced difficulty when they came over for scanning.
It has been reported that, pregnant women who arrived from distant places such as Sullia, Belthangady were not permitted for scanning without producing identity cards. The women had to head back home to bring their ID cards to undergo ultrasound.
Government’s new rule which has been made mandatory from March1, for a pregnant woman to produce any of the identity cards, i.e Aadhaar, PAN, driving license, ration or thayi card to undergo scanning.
Not many women were aware of this rule and most of them are seen going back home without being scanned.
It has been reported that, the scanning centres had to fill in details and upload the details online, and hence, customers are required to furnish identity cards.
