Mandya bus tragedy: CM announces Rs 5L compensation to victims’ families

Mandya: Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy on Saturday announced a compensation of Rs. 5 lakh for the families of those killed in the bus accident at Kanaganamarady in Pandavapura taluk in the district.

Upon hearing the tragic news, Kumaraswamy cancelled his official engagements and rushed to the accident spot. The chief minister consoled the grieving family members of the accident victims.

At least 25 persons, including school children were killed when the private bus they were travelling in skidded off the bridge and plunged into Vishweshwaraiah Canal (VC) near Mandya on Saturday noon.

Meanwhile, President Ram Nath Kovind, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress chief Rahul Gandhi offered condolences to the kin of the deceased. 

Mandya District in-charge minister CS Puttaraju, Transport Minister DC Thammanna, MLA Ravindra Shrikantayya and others accompanied the CM.
