Mangaluru: Dec 19 violence report submission date may be extended

Mangaluru: Udupi district Deputy Commissioner (DC) G Jagadeesha, heading the magisterial inquiry on the December 19, 2019 violence in the city, has requested an extension from State government till May 23 to submit the final report of the inquiry.

The DC stated that the COVID-19 lockdown has caused a delay in conducting the hearing, documents submission by the police and verification of the records.

Violence had erupted on December 19, 2019, in the city resulting in the death of two in police firing. The State government had initiated two inquiries: one magisterial and another by the Criminal Investigation Department to probe the violence.
