Mangaluru: The Dakshina Kannada district administration has banned entry of devotees to Sri Manjunatha Temple at Dharmasthala and Sri Subrahmanya Temple at Kukke Surbahmanya on Saturdays and Sundays till further orders. However the routine puja services can be performed by the priests in the temples, he stated.
The order issued by District Deputy Commissioner K.V. Rajendra on Tuesday states that lodging houses in these places cannot offer lodging facilities to devotees on weekends.
On the remaining days of the week, devotees are allowed to offer prayers at the shrine between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m but they will not be given Tirtha, Prasadam, and food at these temples.
The DC said that the restrictions are being continued in the wake of the possible breakout of the COVID-19 third wave.
Those violating the directions will be booked under the provisions of the Disaster Management Act and Karnataka Epidemic Diseases Rules, Dr. Rajendra said.
