Mangaluru: Excise team raids another illicit liquor factory

Mangaluru: A day after the team from Excise Department destroyed raw materials used in the illegal production of liquor at the banks of Netravati river at Inoli village, another raid on April 17, was reported on a house at Benjanapadavu, Amunje village in Bantwal taluk involved in the illegal production of homemade liquor.
The main culprit, Christan D’Souza, was producing the illegal liquor in his backyard. He along with his accomplice, Kiran Kumar have been detained by the team.
In the raid, the officials seized 1200 litres of rotten jaggery, 950 kilograms of jaggery, 500 litres of counterfeit wine, 300 litres potato and jaggery mix and other ingredients used in the production of the homemade liquor.
Shailaja Kote, Joint Commissioner of Excise, Mangalore Division; Vinod Kumar, Excise Superintendent; Geetha, Deputy Superintendent of Excise, Bantwal Sub-Division; Vijay Kumar, Excise Inspector and officials were in the raiding team.
