Mangaluru: Former Congress MLA from the Mangalore City North Mohiuddin Bava handed over a cheque of Rs 1 lakh to the owner of the Kapila gaushala on March 20 to build a temporary shelter for cows.
The gaushala at Kenjar was demolished on March 4 as it was reportedly built on government land earmarked for the Coast Guard Training Academy.
About 300 cattle were being housed at the gaushala.
Speaking on the occasion Bava said that the BJP government pretends to care for the cows but did not do anything after the demolition of the gaushala when almost 300 cows became homeless.
“We will also request the deputy commissioner to grant half acre land to rebuild the new gaushala,” he added.
Prakash Shetty, the owner of the gaushala, said that he is struggling to care for the cows after the demolition as no help was provided by the government.
“No BJP leaders, who were there during the inauguration of the gaushala, came to my help,” he added.
