Mangaluru: A Railway Under Bridge (RUB) will be built at Mahakalipadpu and the connecting road between National Highway 66 and Morgans Gate will be four-laned at an estimated cost of Rs 49.95 crores.
Along with four laning, the works will also include median, street lights, RCC rainwater drains, RCC barrier in low lying areas and granite stone pitching.
Presently, there exists a level-crossing which when closed during the passage of trains at Mahakalipadpu causes huge traffic on the narrow roads on both sides of the track.
“The demand of residents at Jeppu Mahakalipadu areas will finally be fulfilled now. At a cost of Rs 49.95 crores RUB and four-laning works will be undertaken with the cooperation of the Mangaluru SmartCity Limited and the Railways. The cooperation from the general will be important for this work. We are committed to the comprehensive development of Mangaluru city,” said MLA D Vedvyas Kamath.
