Mangaluru: Since 25 years, a city-based sculptor’s idols of Lord Ganesha have been sent abroad for devotees there.
Pandurang Sharma from Mulki has been making Lord Ganesha idols since 8 decades and since past 25 years, his idols have been sent to the Prasanna Ganapati temple in San Jose, California on special request from the temple.
Sharma’s idols also deck many of the Ganeshotsav pandals in the district and across the State.
Speaking to Udayavani, Sharma who had already left for the US with the idol, said that in the temple there pooja’s are held every day after installing the idol during the Chaturthi week. More than 500 Tulunadu natives attend the poojas. This year as the local administration there did not give permission for immersion in the sea a plastic container has been arranged in the temple for the immersion.
