Mangaluru: Hi-tech signal system on M’luru-Hassan rail line operational

Mangaluru: A state-of-the-art signal system between the Edakumeri and Kadagaravalli railway stations on the Mangaluru-Hassan railway line is operational.
The Hassan-Mangaluru Railway Development Corporation (HMRDC) completed the works at a cost of Rs 4.4 crore.
Due to the upgrading of the signal system, the rail traffic capacity on the route will increase by 35 per cent growth enabling more passenger and freight train traffic.
In future, railway crossing facility will be developed at Kadagaravalli and Edakumeri railway stations to increase the number of trains running on this route. Presently 13 trains run on this route with the development of the railway crossing the number will increase to 20.
