Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada district in-charge minister Kota Srinivasa Poojary has instructed MESCOM officials to respond quickly to public complaints on the issue of increased electricity bills during the lockdown.
At a high-level meeting on Saturday in the office of the Deputy Commissioner, the minister said that it is normal for the March-April bill to be put together. However, the public is under the impression that it is more when calculated on each unit rate. To this end, MESCOM should hold a public grievances meeting and respond to public complaints. Complaints should be promptly resolved through social media and helpline and the public must be allowed to pay their bills in instalments.
MESCOM Managing Director Snehal R. stated that the bill was issued at a fixed rate and there was no excess charged, even interests were not charged. If the bill is excessive then the excess amount will be adjusted in the next bill.
Chief Engineer Manjappa informed the minister about the pre-monsoon preparation and that a 24-hour operational control room (No. 1912) is constantly responding to customer queries and requests.
MESCOM Technical Director Padmavathi, Mayor Diwakar and Deputy Commissioner Sindhu Rupesh were present.
