Mangaluru: MLA Kamath instructs officials to ensure development works without obstruction to public

Mangaluru: MLA Vedavyas Kamath, on November 9, held a meeting with Smart City officials, police officers, City Corporation officials, Karnataka Urban Infrastructure Development and Finance Corporation (KUDFC) officials and the bus owners association to discuss the traffic jam issue in the city due to the road works being conducted in the city.

Speaking after the meeting, Kamath said that he has instructed the officials to make sure the development works in the city do not cause any trouble to the public.

“I have instructed the officials to allow motorists on the PVS Junction and KS Rao Raod. Also, plans are on to connect the old service bus stand, Mulki Sundar Ram Shetty Road (Lighthouse Hill Road) and KS Rao Road,” he added.

“Vehicles coming from KS Rao Road should be allowed to turn onto VT Road and move from Sharavu Temple Road to Clock Tower via GHS Road. Vehicles coming from the State Bank premises will be allowed to move through Hampankatta, KS Rao Road, Yenepoya Hospital. Mulki Sundar Ram Shetty Road can also be accessed from the old service bus stand or KS Rao Road,” the MLA said.

“Similarly, I have instructed the authorities to allow traffic on Sharda Vidyalaya Road. Smart city officials have been instructed to carry out works during the night in the port area to avoid traffic during the day. The police department has been instructed to take action so that people do not have to face any traffic problem from tomorrow,” added Kamath.

At the meeting, Mangaluru City Corporation’s Standing Committee president Jagdish Shetty Boluru, Purnima M, Assistant Commissioner Madan Mohan, Traffic Sub Division’s Assistant Deputy Commissioner of Police Nataraj, Traffic (West) Police Station’s Inspector Jayananda, Bus owners association’s president Dilraj Alva, Nagarika Hitarakshana Samiti’s Hanumant Kamath and others were also present.
