Mangaluru: N Shashi Kumar undertakes new operation, 100 rounded up

Mangaluru: Newly, appointed commisssioner N Shashi Kumar undertook Surakshita Mangalurigagi Operation Suraksha within the limits of Barke and South (Pandeshwar) on Sunday, January 3.
Over 100 people who were found indulging in alcohol consumption or narcotic drugs, individuals found present at night under suspicious circumstances were rounded up and taken to armed reserve police hall for questioning. Since it was the first day of the exercise, those secured would be released after identity verification and informing their parents or family. If they were found to have a criminal background, further action will be taken.
Open grounds and railway tracks were targeted and the police commissioner urged people to not to loiter around without any reason at night. He even warned them that if they were caught again, he shall book them under legal provisions.
Deputy Commissioners of Police Hariram Sharma (Law & Order) and Vinay Gaonkar (Crime & Traffic) and others participated in the exercise.
N Shashi Kumar also said that such an exercise will be undertaken in every PS limits twice or thrice in a week and that the primary intention is to check nuisance and curb any criminal acts.
