Mangaluru: Police bust beef sale racket; accused flees

Mangaluru: Mangaluru rural police raided an illegal meat shop running from a shed in Arkula village here on Sunday.
Police raided the shed belonging to B K Khalid at Arkula Kote, based on information that a person named Bashit was selling beef from the shed illegally.
Cattle were illegally slaughtered and the meat was being sold from the shed to customers, police said.
Meat weighing 95kg, the meat cleaver, weighing equipment, and other items were confiscated during the raid.
The accused Bashit managed to flee from the spot and a manhunt has been launched to arrest him, police added.
