Mangaluru/Kolar: A 24-year-old Probationary PSI Shamili attached to Dakshina Kannada SP’s office died due to COVID-19 on Tuesday, May 18.

The deceased PSI Shamili was 7 months pregnant and therefore did not get herself vaccinated.

Shamili had joined DK police on January 11 and had gone to her hometown last month after taking leave.

After testing positive Shamili was admitted to Jalappa Hospital in Kolar on May 2 for treatment where she breathed her last.

Sharing the news of Shamili’s death Karnataka DGP Praveen Sood tweeted, “Youngest member of the police family to succumb to Covid. 24 year old, PSI Shamili of Kolar, attached to DK district lost her battle with COVID. May her soul rest in peace. But it could be any of us. Please cooperate with police, stay home and stay safe.”
