Mangaluru: Taking advantage of the lockdown, Mangaluru Smart City Limited has accelerated many of its works in the city.

Vehicular traffic has been stopped on KS Rao Road and the road from MCC Bank to Aloysius Road at Hampankatte for the roadworks.

Additionally, sewer works are also been conducted in the Bunder area.

The multilevel car parking project has been approved at the Hampankatta Old Bus Stand and the company is preparing to start the works soon.

Although the works have been speeded up, but if the government does not extend the lockdown then there might be traffic problems because of the works again.

“Due to the low vehicle traffic, it was possible to speed up the works. There are also no labourer shortages as well. The residents are requested to cooperate in the works carried out for the development of the city,” said Mayor Premananda Shetty.
