Mangaluru: Uppinangady GP announces reward for reporting those illegally dumping garbage

Mangaluru: The Uppinangady gram panchayat in Dakshina Kannada district has started a novel campaign to catch those illegally dumping garbage in the village.

The panchayat will pay a cash reward of Rs 500 to those who make a video recording of the person/s in the act of dumping the garbage and report it to them.

A panchayat official reported that a lot of garbage is dumped within their panchayat limits by neighbouring villages and vehicles that pass on the Mangaluru-Bengaluru highway, hence they came up with this idea to involve local residents in the cleanliness drive.
