Mangaluru: City will not face any water scarcity this year, said newly appointed mayor Bhaskar Moily.
Addressing the gathering, he said, “The water which is stored in Thumbe dam will be sufficient for the city. Even if the water level dips, there will not be any scarcity till the end of May. Since AMR Dam, which is on the upstream of Nethravati River, has 9.17 MCM of water in it. Water from AMR dam can be released to Thumbe dam if required,”
Mayor visited the dam along with MCC council chief whip M Shashidhar Hegde and MLC Ivan D’Souza, to ascertain the storage level.
“Though the city may not suffer a water crisis, citizens should use water carefully,” he added.
