Meeting at the earliest for complete development of DK: CM

Mangaluru: A special meeting will be held soon in Bengaluru on the agenda of creating new plans for the complete development of the district. All the people’s representatives from the diatrict shall attend this meeting, said Chief Minister H D Kumarswamy. He was speaking with the media at the DK ZP Hall after taking part in the progress review meeting held here on Friday evening.

Congress-JD(S) coalition government will give more importance to the development of DK. In order to give solutions to problems, he will visit Mangaluru again in another 20 days and hold another round of talks with the officials and people’s representatives, he informed.

Do not reject 94 C applications

In the backdrop of the Forest Department causing hindrance to the provision of site for the poor to build a house under 94 C, attempts will be initiated to amend the law to make it feasible. A request has been sent to the Centre and action has been taken to convince the Supreme Court also. In this backdrop, he informed that he had directed the DC and officials to not to reject applications under 94C and instead keep them pending until further decision.

Complete report on Endo-directed

With the aim to provide permanent relief to the victims of Endosulfan, the DC has been directed to give a complete report. Later, steps will be taken provide permanent relief, he said.

Relief for rain damage

Immediate relief has been provided for loss of life, animals and damage to homes due to the rain’s fury and natural calamity. Higher compensation was provided for houses incurring damage by making NDRF directions were made lenient. Including roads and bridges, the total loss incurred in damage to public property is estimated to be around Rs. 238 crore. Arecanut, rubber and black pepper yields in an area of 19,000 hectares have been adversely affected by diseases. Officials will give information regarding this and take proper action, he said.

Udupi district in-charge minister Jayamala, MLC B M Farook, Harish Kumar, Boje Gowda, Mayor Bhaskar K, Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil, Police Commissioner T R Suresh, District SP Dr. Ravikanthe Gowda were present.

Progress review meeting

During the progress review meeting, the MLA’s, MLC’s and officials gave information to the CM on the district development and its problems.

MP Nalin Kumar Kafteel, Angara, Sanjeeva Matandoor, Harish Punja, Rajesh Nayak, Vedavyas Kamath, Dr. Bharat Shetty, Umanath Kotiyan, Srinivas Poojary, B M Farook, Harish Kumar, Boja Gowda and Meenakshi Shantigodu were present.
