Bengaluru: Four people, claiming to be officers of the Central Reserve Police Force on election duty, took Rs. 50 lakh cash from a businessman on Thursday. Dhanush, who hails from Chitradurga district, owns a hardware business and he was in Bengaluru to give Rs. 50 lakh to his friend. He was in a KSRTC bus at Majestic bus stand when four uniformed men came and told him that they were CRPF officials. They allegedly seized his bag and took him to the Upparpet police station. He was asked to wait near the station as the police inspector was not inside, while the four people walked away, never to return.
Later, Dhanush realized that he had been cheated and lodged a complaint. Police have registered a case of cheating and are using CCTV footage at the KSRTC bus stand to track the culprits. They are also trying to check if the culprits are actually CRPF officers or just men posing like them.
