MIA: Customs seize gold

Bajpe: Customs caught a passenger attempting to smuggle gold at Mangaluru International Airport and seized 333.4 grams of gold valued Rs 10.84 lakhs. The passenger had arrived from Dubai on board Spice Jet flight SG60.

The accused had attempted to smuggle the precious metal by concealing it in the arch of his feet beneath his socks.

It is worth noting that custom officials had caught another passenger arriving from Dubai a week ago for attempting to smuggle 91.05gm of gold worth Rs 2.96 lakh. This passenger who had arrived to MIA on board Air India flight IX814 had concealed the 24-carat pure noble metal in the form of paste inside four branded soaps.
