Kundapur: The roof of mini Vidhana Soudha in Kundapur peeled off and injured one person. A little over four years have passed by since the building was inaugurated and the poor quality of the work done is reveling itself.
The roof of the staff office of Kundapur sub-divisional officer, located on the first floor of the building came crashing down even as the staffs were working below at around 11 am on Saturday, August 17.
The falling roof injured Narayana Billava, a retired employee of Varahi project on his head, hands and legs and was rushed to the hospital. Another government employee Balakrishna who was working nearby managed to escape unhurt.
Apparently, cracks were seen on the walls of mini Vidhana Soudha even before its inauguration and the media including the newspapers had highlighted the inferior quality of work after which some patchwork was carried out and the Vidhana Soudha was opened on February 7, 2015.
Although the locals had urged the officials to look into the inferior construction but they continued to remain indifferent.
Just within a year of its construction cracks appeared and in the following year, rain water started seeping. Now the collapse of the roof has created anxiety among the government employees who now fear to sit within the building.
