Mandya: Anxiety has gripped areas surrounding the KRS dam in Srirangapatnam after a few stones of the dam fell apart.

The fallen stones are on the pathway leading to the Goddess Kaveri statue at the dam.

The incident comes only days after Mandya MP Sumalatha alleged that cracks have developed in the dam due to illegal mining in nearby areas.

The dam and its surrounding areas have been receiving uninterrupted downpours for the past three days.

Additionally, minor repair works too are being carried out at the dam.

The stones at the base of the road collapsed during the night. Immediately local MLA Ravindra Srikantaiah and other officials visited the spot.

The officials after inspecting the fallen stones stated that there is no danger to the dam.
