M’luru: DK to experience explosion in COVID-19 numbers; more than 300 cases likely

Mangaluru: Incidences of COVID-19 cases in coastal Karnataka districts is showing signs of coastal increase with the worst affected district predicted to be Dakshina Kannada.
In the district, 238 cases were reported on Thursday, July 16. Today (July 17), the number of cases is expected to rise, with more than 300 cases expected.
If it so happens then it will be the first time in the Dakshina Kannada district that the number of COVID-19 cases will cross 300. Most of these cases could be because of primary contacts with those already infected.
In addition, the number of ILI (Influenza-like illness) and SARI (Severe acute respiratory infections) cases too could also be increasing.
According to the State’s Health Department data on Thursday evening, a total of 2758 people in the Dakshina Kannada district have been infected with 52 deaths making Dakshina Kannada the second most COVID-19-affected district in the State.
