M’luru: Family of brain-dead man donates his organs

Mangaluru: The family of a brain-dead 32-year-old man donated his organs thus giving a new lease of life to critically ill patients.
The donor, Satish had sustained critical injuries in a road accident on December 26 and was admitted to the Father Muller Hospital. After doctors declared him as brain dead, his family agreed to donate his heart, liver and kidneys to four hospitals namely — Manipal Hospital and Narayana Hridayalaya in Bengaluru; Kasturba Hospital in Manipal and K S Hegde Hospital in Deralakatte.
The organs meant for Bengaluru hospitals were sent via flight and zero traffic arrangements were made by traffic police while transporting them from Fr Muller Hospital to Mangaluru International Airport on Wednesday, December 29 morning.
His heart and liver were donated to Manipal Hospital and Narayana Hridayalaya respectively while one kidney each was donated to Kasturba Hospital and K S Hegde Hospital.
