M’luru: Man saves 4 from drowning on his engagement day; rescue video goes viral

Haleangadi: Shamant Gowda of the Mulki-based Mantra Surfing Club rescued four members of a family from drowning at sea on December 31, on the day of his engagement.
Five people, from a family, staying at a private resort at Chitrapur, had gone for a swim in the Shambhavi river. However, due to the sudden increase in the tide, all five of them started to drown.
Shamant, along with his colleague Nihal jumped into the water to save them and was successful in saving four of them. The fifth person, a local BJP leader, died.
Later that night Shamant participated in his engagement ceremony.
His selfless efforts even on such an important day of his life have been praised by many and the video of him rescuing the four has now gone viral.
