M’luru: Smart City project bus shelters in disarray, Passengers face hardship

Several bus shelters constructed under the Smart City project are in a state of disrepair, causing difficulties for passengers during rain and heat.

One such bus shelter near Bharat Mall on the road from Lalbagh to Bejai is in a particularly poor condition. During rainfall, those seeking shelter get completely drenched. The inadequately constructed shelter allows rainwater to seep inside, making it unusable for passengers.

The public has demanded that pipes be installed to direct the water away or a barrier be built behind the shelter to prevent water from entering.

Similar issues are observed at several other bus shelters across the city. The shelter on G.M. Road near Bajal also faces the same problem, with rainwater entering and making it impossible for passengers to stand inside. This is a common complaint from the public, highlighting the widespread nature of the issue.

“I ran to the bus shelter to take cover during heavy rain and wind, but there wasn’t a single dry spot. Water was seeping from all sides. The corporation needs to fix such shelters,” said Soumya K., a daily commuter.

The public urges the municipal authorities to take immediate action to repair these shelters and make them usable again.
