Mosque Replaces Ashok Chakra on Tricolour, Complaint Filed in UP

Shahjahanpur: Police on Friday said that they have ordered a probe after Hindu outfits Jagran Manch and the Akhil Bharatiya Hindu Mahasabha submitted a complaint alleging that disrespect was shown to the national flag during the Muslim celebration of Julus-e-Gausia on December 19 night.

The event took place in Shahjahanapur’s Puranpur area in Uttar Pradesh. According to the complaint, instead of the Ashoka Chakra in the middle of the flag, photo of a mosque was put up which, the Hindu groups allege, amounts to showing disrespect to the national flag.

Superintendent of Police Balendu Bhushan Singh said the matter was being probed and action will be taken if anyone is found guilty.
