Muneer Bava quits as Beary Academy member

Mangaluru: Recently-appointed Karnataka Beary Sahitya Academy member Muneer Bava is said to have tendered his resignation to the post to Academy president Rahim Ucchil.

The state government had on Tuesday named Rahim Ucchil as head of the Beary Sahitya Academy while Roopesh Kumar, Murali Raj, Dr. Muneer Bava, Surekha, Chanchalaxmi, Fasal Asyagoli and Siraj Mudipu were appointed members.

It is gathered that Bava has urged that the post of academy member be given to someone who has contributed to the field of Beary literature while tendering his resignation.

Meanwhile, Academy Registrar Rajesh said he had not received anybody’s resignation letter.
