Shivamogga: A Muslim woman has set an example by performing puja in a Hindu temple during Navaratri.
Fameeda Sharif and her relatives perform puja for Goddess Bhagawati Amma on property provided by the railway authority.
Fameeda’s late husband constructed this temple. She claims that when her husband was younger Goddess Durgadevi frequently came into his nightmares and he had sought treatment from Varadahalli Sridhar Swami in Sagar.
She reveals that the Swami told him that he should worship the Goddess every day.
Ibrahim, a Kerala native, chose to collaborate with the railway administration to create the temple. However, many people were against his proposal. But he overcame these challenges and built a shrine devoted to the deity. He not only oversaw the temple’s construction and upkeep but also conducted puja every day until it was handed over to a Hindu committee.
He moved after a few years, but he and his family kept up the habit of offering puja to the goddess on major occasions. Following Sharif’s death, his family members continued to perform puja here on important occasions, according to Fameeda.
