Mysuru: Crafty wild leopard finally captured

Mysuru: The crafty wild leopard that terrorised the people of T Naripura Taluk and surrounding areas here has finally been captured.

The leopard fell into a cage placed at Mallikarjuna Hill near M L Hundi of Bannur. The forest department found the spotted wild animal at 9.30 am on Friday, December 23.

For the past 23 days, the forest officials conducted the rescue operation. More than 150 personnel including senior forest department officials, were involved in the operation. A thermal drone camera was also pressed into action.

Two persons in Bannur had lost their lives to the leopard attack in the past few months. It also attacked livestock in the region. The repeated attacks of the beast had created an atmosphere of panic among locals.

The forest officials, who visited the spot for an inspection, said the trapped leopard was a 7 -year-old male.
