Manipal: A national conference on ‘Risk Management and Prevention of Antibiotic Resistance: Global Update’, organised by Prasanna School of Public Health will be held at KMC Interact building on November 14 from 9.00am onwards.

The conference will deliberate upon the unprecedented rise in the incidence of Antibiotic resistance (ABR) which is posing new threats to healthcare globally. ABR has been identified as one of the top 10 global health threats in 2019 by World Health Organisation (WHO).

Word of caution from WHO is, “if appropriate steps are not taken now to prevent the overuse of antibiotics, the time will come when it will be hard to even treat infections such as pneumonia, tuberculosis etc.” Effective communication, education and training are the strategies recommended by WHO to combat this challenge.
