Mangaluru: After a gap of almost 15 years, the National Cadet Corps (NCC) 6 Karnataka Air Squadron will resume its flying activities in the city using the Pipstrel Virus-D aircraft.
The initaive to restart the flights can be attributed to the Group Commander, Mangalore Group HQ of NCC, Colonel A K Sharma and Commander of the Squadron, Group Captain A G Srinivasan.
Senior and juniour air cadets have to pass the flying test as part of their practicals to earn their A Certificate. Earlier these cadets had to go to Bengaluru or Belagavi for the flight training and test.
The sorties with the cadets last for about 5 to 7 minutes. Sometimes they might have to hover longer in the air due to commercial aircraft movemnets.
